Small Spaces - the Designer’s Story…

Whilst studying towards a degree in Interior Design, and refurbishing a couple of small one-bedroom houses, I found that locating furniture, fittings and accessories that were especially suitable for small living spaces was often a frustrating, and very time consuming business.

After internet searches returned results that promised the required information, but turned out to be ’dead ends’, I started work on putting together a list of my own…

…and so Small Spaces was born! Developing all the time, the plan is for it to become a one-stop-shop for information about everything that enhances compact living, from clever dual-purpose furniture, slimline furnishings and fittings, to storage ideas and useful accessorries. I thought I'd share it!

…and the Writer’s Tale

While musing on the theme of small spaces, it occurred to me that it could be applied to all manner of interesting places. This led to the creation of the Features element of Small Spaces: a growing clutch of ’scribblings’ about some ordinary - and a few quite extraordinary - small spaces.

I hope you will find some of them intriguing, some amusing - some may even be inspiring! All of them reflect my own personal lifelong delight in, and fascination with, small living spaces, and with the ingenuity, inspiration and invention that is so often combined to make those small spaces, GREAT! - Mo
